GET THE LOOKDOUBLE RAINBOW MAKEUP TUTORIAL ![]() We all watched and laughed at a man's reaction to seeing a double rainbow. Rainbows can be quite a breath-taking sight, and the only thing more gleeful than observing a prismatic half-circle in the sky is wearing one on your lids! Here's how you can achieve the rainbow effect any time, any day!
You will need eyeshadows in the colors of the rainbow - yellow, red, pink, blue, green, turquoise and purple will all work. You don't need all 7 colors - 3 or 4 should be enough. For this look, we will be using Magic Dusts in Circus Girl, Lime Criminal, Shoe Addict and Primadonna. Prep your lids with eyeshadow primer for maximum brightness and long-lasting results. Apply Circus Girl with a dense, short-bristled brush on the center of the eyeball. Pat Shoe Addict on outer corners (don't worry about it being perfect) and finally, Lime Criminal into the inner corner and into the crease. Blend the colors together with a fluffy brush in a back-and-forth motion until seamless; avoid overblending, you want the colors to still pop! Apply Primadonna under the eye as close to the lashes as possible. ![]() Smudge indigo-blue or purple pencil on the waterline, under lower lashes and close to the top lashes if you want. Don't have a purple pencil? No problem! Use any black eyeliner and lightly pat blue or purple eyeshadow on top of the line with a tiny brush - the waxes in the pencil will hold on to the color. Finish off with 2-3 coats of black mascara - our favorite is Maybelline Falsies Volume Express. Rainbows come out after the rain, so dewy complexion is a-must! Apply liquid foundation onto moisturized skin and skip setting powder - you want that healthy sheen to show through! If you use a highlighter, dab in a thin layer onto cheeks on the ridge just under the eye, under the brow and on cupid's bow. Keep your blush within the neutral family. Since the eye is so dramatic, keep the lips neutral - the best way to showcase bright eyeshadow! Any nude lipstick will do, or you can even make your own color by dabbing some foundation onto the lips and topping it off with lip balm or clear gloss. Voila! ROSE EPOCH ![]() It's a Rose Epoch here at Lime Crime! We are inspired by their intoxicating smell, dewy sheen and pink petals. To recreate this look, you will need black mascara, green eyeliner (or loose eyeshadow such as Lime Criminal), rose-tinted lipstick, and a couple rhinestones to imitate dew drops.
Prepare the canvas with foundation. (Tip: if your foundation is too heavy, mix with your favorite lotion for that 'dewy' finish!) Apply mascara to top and bottom lashes liberally. To make your eyes pop, use eyeliner in a contrast color such as lime green - we here mixed a pinch of Lime Criminal magic dust with water and applied with a thin brush (you can turn any color into eyeliner this way, just be sure to give it a minute to dry!). ![]() Brush on some eyelash glue onto the back of rhinestones and apply with tweezers underneath the eyes. You can do both eyes or just one eye, depending on your personality! Grab a lip brush and apply just a touch of color to the lips. We used Countessa Fluorescent, a bright pink lipstick that settles into a perfect rose tint when applied sparingly. Result is a soft, matte finish - just like those petals! For a natural, just-kissed blush, pick up some of the lip color you'd just used and blend it into the apples of your cheeks with your finger tips. Skip mattifying powders to preserve the dewy skin finish. Voila! SAIL AWAY ![]() Keep the eyes light - 2 coats of mascara should do. We love individual lashes from the drugstore because they are easier to apply than a full lash and have a less heavy look. Dip the ends into glue, let dry for 15 seconds and apply as close to the natural lashes as possible (try top or bottom lid - see what works best for you!). We recommend 3-4 individual lashes per eye. If you're planning to spend the whole day out in the sun, sunblock is essential. You should avoid liquid foundations during the summer as they tend to look too heavy. Dust forehead, nose, chin and cheeks down with loose mineral foundation - most have light SPF, too. Apply Centrifuchsia lipstick directly from the tube. For a natural, flushed look dab on 2 dots of lipstick (yes, lipstick!) onto your cheeks and blend with your fingers in circular motions. You'll be amazed at the results! ![]() Hydrangea – what a lovely flower. Especially the lilac/purple kind with greenish inflections! Immediately it makes us think of makeup – and although blues and purples are generally reserved for the eyes, this spring/summer they migrate to the lips. MUA Tori created a look that shows how you can get away with lavender and turquoise lipstick without looking overdone. ![]() Apply light concealer and foundation to face, and add a touch of natural blush. Keep the eyes light – shimmery peaches, bronzes, or a touch of silver will do the job (try Magic Dust in Cleopatra) . If you’re feeling adventurous and want to emulate the flower, dab some of bright yellow just onto inner corner of the eye (try Circus Girl). Play around with plum or gray liner – a great, subtle way to accentuate the waterline. Top off with black mascara. Lips are the focus of this look. Apply D’Lilac (lavender) or No She Didn’t (sky blue) lipstick directly from the tube. Voila! MARIE ANTOINETTE ![]() Marie Antoinette loved candy - and this is our take on her look incorporating real cupcake decorations! Cover the face in foundation and set with powder. Give cheeks a flushed look with pink blush. Sweep Nymph magic dust all over the eye and up to the brow bone. Define crease with Cleopatra and inner corners with Circus Girl. Keep eyebrows light. Darken top & bottom lashes with black mascara. Using liquid liner, draw a winged line as close to the lashes as possible. Stick falsies on top. Using felt-tip liner, spot on fake moles all over the face. Stick on cake confetti underneath the eye with eyelash glue. (Optional: you can use confetti instead of the moles!) Paint lips with Great Pink Planet lipstick directly from the tube. Smile mischievously! Crave more? Check out more tutorials on Doe Deere Blogazine! |
